WHAT IS IN THE MEDICINE?

Each capsule contains 562.43 mg of Sodium Ascorbate that provides 500 mg of its active substance, Ascorbic Acid or Vitamin C. This vitamin is used for the prevention and treatment of Vitamin C deficiency symptoms like scurvy (characterized by capillary fragility, bleeding of small blood vessels and gums, normocytic or macrocytic anaemia, lesions of cartilages and bones and slow healing of wounds). It is essential for the synthesis of collagen and intercellular materials. Ascorbic acid acts to stimulate the production of collagen (abundant protein of the body for protection of mucosal linings and other connective tissues for maintaining of organs) and being a potent antioxidant, it effectively fights free radicals and harmful effects of these in the body


WHAT IS THIS MEDICINE USED FOR?

Ascorbic Acid (So-Cee) is used for treatment and prevention of Vitamin C deficiency. This is also essential for stimulation of collagen production, helps in wound healing, increases body resistance from infectious diseases and maintains healthy connective tissues.

HOW MUCH AND HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU USE THIS MEDICINE?

Take 1-2 capsule/s per day with glassful of water for daily maintenance or as prescribed by your physician. May be taken with or without food.

WHAT OTHER MEDICINE OR FOOD SHOULD BE AVOIDED WHILE TAKING THIS MEDICINE?

Below are the following drug and/or food interactions with this medicinal product that must be avoided. • Induced tissue desaturation with aspirin, nicotine, iron, phenytoin, tetracycline, estrogen component of oral contraceptives and some appetite suppressant and anticonvulsant drugs. • Reduced absorption and decreased urinary excretion with aspirin. • Reduced serum levels if taken with oral contraceptives. • May cause unexpected renal tubular reabsorption of acidic drugs and decreased reabsorption of basic drugs. • May reduce the response to oral anticoagulants. • May decrease plasma concentration of fluphenazine. • May worsen the iron toxicity to the heart with deferroxamine. • Induced tissue desaturation with alcohol.
